Congratulations - Week 9 Thing #23

Kathy, I did it!! I finished. WooHoo!!

What were your favorite discoveries or exercises on this learning journey? I liked Flickr and Del.icio.us.

How has this program assisted or affected your lifelong learning goals? I plan to keep on learning!

Were there any take-a-ways or unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you? I LOVE Del.icio.us. I use it daily at home and at work. It is so much easier to keep all my websites in one place.

What could we do differently to improve upon this program’s format or concept? I loved learning about all the new tools out there, but was not wild about blogging on everything.

If we offered another discovery program like this in the future, would you choose to participate? Yes.

How would you describe your learning experience in ONE WORD or in ONE SENTENCE, so we could use your words to promote CSLA learning activities? Awesome!

I am happy that I have finally finished. Thanks to everyone for encouraging me to stay with it and finish. WooHoo!

E-books and Audio Books - Week 9 Thing #22

This is a great source for my students. I would love to have Playaways in my library. But no money. This might be a good alternative. The Gutenberg Project has many great "classic" books. I know the students would especially love Edgar Allan Poe!

Podcasts - Week 9 Thing #21

I would like to be able to do this easily! I think this is a great tool to use in a library to attract kids. I had trouble going thru and listening to the different podcasts. I found my mind wandering and that I am easily distracted. I am definitely a visual learner.

I hope that I will be able to teach students to do booktalks using this.

I did subscribe to the RSS feed for LibVibe.

You Tube - Week 9 Thing #20

I love YouTube!!!

Take a look at "Library Rap"

(Make sure you click on the Edit Html tab on your blog)

LibraryThing - Week 9 Thing #19

I started off very excited about this site. Finally, I would be able to get a little bit of a handle of what books I have at my home. After I had entered about 20 books, I clicked over to take a look at my list. I had inadvertantly tagged all the books with the title of the first book I entered. I have been clicking thru the site for about an hour and cannot figure out how to undo these tags. I am sure it is something very easy...I just can't figure it out!

Online Applications and Tools - Week 8 Thing #18

I have previously used Zoho Writer . The one feature that I liked was the ability to simultaneously chat with the people that are on the same Zoho document that you are on. The colors of the chat pop-ups correspond to the color of the editing in the document.

I prefer Google Docs, only because it is on Google. One less log-on and password to keep track of. lol

These are both great options to keep in mind to suggest to students.

Sandbox - Week 7 Thing #17

I liked the suggestion of setting up Wiki's for different areas of a school you would lilke to collaborate with. Technology, English, etc. (But I still tend to lean towards Google)

Wikis - Week 7 Thing #16

I have responded to Wiki's in the past, but have never started one myself. It is not something that I would be able to use at my school with our students. I read Using Wiki's to Create Online Communities and it really spelled out the use of Wiki's and I had a "aha" moment. A great way to collaborate.

Technorati - Week 6 Thing #14

Interesting to know about Technorati, but not something I think I would use. I enjoy Del.icio.us for tagging.

Del.icio.us - Week 6 Thing #13

I already have a Del.icio.us accoung and I love it. I have it on my computer at work and at home. I can now find all my "favorites" in one place.
